DISTRICT 9675

NEWSLETTER – 9 MAY 2017

Dear Fellow Rotarians & Friends,

Tuesday, 02 May 2017 was a great Fellowship night in consisting of 21 attendees. We welcomed our four special visitors: Karla Muckenthaler, Pamela Nkomo, Ferroll Gordon, Margaret Groat and Carlin Gibbs. Apologies from Alan Hall, Frans Buskermolen and Robert Menolotto.

Tonight, there was a good night and Ferroll introduced himself, advising us that he was originally from California, USA and has been living in Liverpool for 8 years as a counsellor and he was happy to visit our club. Pamela Nkomo informed us that she would like to join the club as a new club member.

Secretary: Ted advised that he invited our club members to attend the AHHA Fund raising night on 26th of May 2017 and if you are joining the AHHA night one ticket is available now and costs $60 per person. He also showed us that he managed to get a very high quality brochure printed in Vietnam cost $300 for 3500 leaflets (this compares to the Australian cost of $850 per 1000).

He also advised that “The Government in Vanuatu has advised that ALL future RAWCS Projects in Vanuatu MUST have the approval of the Government Department concerned. If that approval has not been granted BEFORE the volunteers arrive in Vanuatu, THEY WILL BE REFUSED ENTRY AND WILL BE SENT BACK HOME. In case there are any teams that choose to simply enter Vanuatu as tourists and then undertake locally arranged Project work, they can be fined up to US$12K each as well as face a jail sentence for illegal declaration and entry to Vanuatu.”

Treasurer: Gary advised that the ordered circus tickets will be distributed soon. All sessions are now fully booked. He circulated a request for volunteers to help with marshalling at the Circus.

A commitment sheet was circulated for the Club’s Change Over Dinner to be held at Liverpool Catholic Club on 1st July 2017 at cost of$65 per person (this includes a 3 Course Dinner and an open bar), with a 6:30pm for 7:00pm start.

Program Officer: Sam Capra advised that because of the failure of members who had advised that they were attending the Dinner at La Rumbla that in future, he will ask for the payment first when we decide to dine-out at the different venue and that anyone not turning up will forfeit their money.

President – Elect: John Pillay reminded incoming Directors that the District Assembly is being held at Greystanes High School on Saturday 6th May 2017 and that he needed to confirm attendance for catering.

Welcome back Jim Rudling from your overseas holiday. Frans Buskermolen will be away from this until Mid-July 2017 due to travelling to overseas.

Under the new catering arrangements I request that you fill in the meal request form as soon as you arrive, the form will be on the tables when you first arrive. Remember that the meeting will start promptly at 6:30 pm
