He also confirmed that a New Manager has been appointed for the Liverpool PCYC and has been invited to attend a future meeting, he has also had a discussion with Elizabeth Hatfield about starting "U turn the Wheel" in Liverpool - this is a safe driving program for year 11 students.

At the meeting on 2 April we need to decide if the membership night scheduled for 30 April is going ahead. . We need at least 8 potential new members attending to make it worthwhile.

Youth Service - We have two girls to attending RYPEN.

Amal Whab did a presentation on the Colombo University Project. The key points were;
The rigorous process of selecting undergraduates
The condition and rules the undergraduates need to follow to be recipients of scholarships
The impact the scholarships have had on the undergraduates
The impact the Rotary donation has had on the project. Increase the total number from 14 to 32 scholarships in the last seven years
Planning for the future to hand over the project to the Rotary Club of Colombo Uptown. MOU has been signed.
The club members were interested in supporting the project through personal contributions and the question time went on for a long time.

New Member Night - because of the number of members traveling this has now been moved to 30th April 2024.

Let’s face it - attracting members to join a service organization is not an easy task. In fact, oftentimes, we see that even though the majority of people are aware of Rotary, only a few know what Rotarians actually do.

The prospective members that we try and recruit are often our friends, colleagues or family members.

These are people that are easy to recruit because you share a personal relationship with them and can easily explain the work of Rotarians to them.

Invite members of your local community, friends and business contacts to this membership night!

We will have a speaker and  some materials ready to give out at this event that consist of information about your club, activities and Rotary. This way, prospective members have something conclusive to take away and read. Invite all prospective members at the membership night to attend so they can get a feel of what the dynamic of the club is like.

Those who are really interested will attend and you'll have an opportunity to formally invite them to join the club.

IF WE WANT TO GROW THE CLUB, IT IS UP TO EVERY MEMBER TO PROMOTE THE CLUB AND THIS NIGHT!

Community Service Director John Pillay advised that our next Feed the Homeless Night in Martin Place, will be held on 7 June 2024 at 6 for 6:30pm.
