President – Charles Hili reported on the proposed BBQ to be held on Australia Day 2021 for Health and Emergency Worker at Liverpool Hospital, including local Police.
He confirmed that Liverpool and Liverpool Greenway Clubs will be joining us in this venture. An application for a grant from the Australia Day Council has been made on behalf of the Clubs by PDG Barry Anstees. Further details will be provided when they come to hand.
He also confirmed that PP Peter Beadle has been appointed Area Co-ordinator for Rotarians Against Malaria.
Youth Service Director – Shiva Nandan advised that he expects to have more than 30 nominations for the Annual School Service Awards by the end of the week.
Rotary Club of Liverpool West Nursing Scholarships – Shiva reported that applications for these scholarships are now open to students of Narromine High School and Trangie Central School who wish to study for a Batchelor of Nursing degree at the Dubbo Campus of Charles Sturt University. We are offering two scholarships of $9,000 each ($3,000 per year over three years).
Club Service Director – Peter Beadle reported on the Proposed Club Christmas Dinner at the Carrington Hotel Katoomba on Friday 11 December 2020 and circulated a final commitment sheet. He also canvassed the idea of a Group Picnic on Saturday.
BREAKFAST BBQ FOR HOMELESS – Saturday 28 November 2020
Bigge Park Liverpool from 8 am to 11 am
PP Sam Capra gave an update on arrangements for this event and thanked Pranesh from Pratech Printing for his generous support in printing flyers for this event and Justine from BIG BUN Bakeries who has donated the Bread Rolls. Amar Singh from Turbans 4 Australia has donated some drinks.
We will be providing free Bacon, Egg and Sausage Rolls with a Fruit Juice for up to 250 people on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you have volunteered to work on the morning please be there by 7:00 am to help set up and start cooking.
DROUGHT RELIEF NARROMINE DISTRICT
PP Jim Rudling reported that he is in contact with Jan Colmer from Narromine Rotary and hopes to be in a position to confirm the next Community BBQ and distribution of drought relief vouchers by 7 December 2020.
The proposed date of the BBQ is either Saturday 23 January 2021 or Sunday 24 January 2021 this will ensure that the vouchers are distributed before the school year begins
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
President Charles Hili opened the meeting and Treasurer Gary Halliday presented the Annual Financial Statements for the year ended 30 June 2020 which were approved by the Meeting.
President-Elect 2021/2 – It was extremely disappointing that no member step forward to take this position and as such until we have someone the other Board appointments could not be made. Members should realise that this is a vital role which needs to be filled and without it or Club will cease to function.
GET TO KNOW LIVERPOOL WEST
We have confirmed our booking for this event at the Jumbo Seafood Restaurant at Mounties on Tuesday 8 December 2020 – 6:30 for 7 pm.
Members are asked to invite a person who might be a potential new member of our Club to attend as a guest of the Club to get to know us.
The cost for the 8 course Chinese Banquet will be $25 per person for members, prospective members will be guests of the Club and as normal drinks will be at your own expense.
A commitment sheet will be circulated over the next 2 weeks with final numbers need by 1 December 2020 – think of people you know who would contribute to our Club and invite them along.
BUNNINGS BBQ’s – CROSS ROADS CASULA
Following discussions at the meeting on 17 November 2020 when members agreed on their preferred days and times, PP Jim Rudling has been able to arrange for us to do one BBQ each month until the end of 2021.
The next date is Sunday, 20 December 2020 – we will need 2 teams of 6 people on the day. The first shift will be from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm which includes setup and the second will be from 12 noon to 5 pm which includes handover and clean up. A commitment sheet will circulate shortly.
For 2021 we have the first Sunday of every month – 3rd January, 7th February, 7th March, 4th April, 2nd May, 6th June, 4th July, 1st August, 5th September, 3rd October???, 7th November, and 5th December.
ANNUAL CIRCUS
We now have set tentative dates to hold this event in 2021 – this has been postponed because of COVID 19 restrictions and the need to operate in a COVID Safe manner.
We plan to hold the Circus over 4 days with 12 shows commencing on Friday 1 October and finishing on Monday 4 October 2021 at Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
We will need volunteers to man the BBQ, assist with marshaling the attendees and making the bucket collections at the end of each show.
