We had a well attended meeting for District Governor Dianne North and husband David’s visit.
Di updated the meeting on what is happening in our District and complimented the Club on the many our Projects and the support we give in many areas. Part of her talk was on the work that Interplast does in Asia and the Pacific urging our Club to consider providing support this year and noting that it is David’s Partner Project for the year.
She made a couple of presentations, firstly to Tissa Perera (our most recent Member) of a Rotary Coin with the Four Way Test on one side and a book to President Sam Capra.
Dianne then went on to demonstrate her oragimi skills and auctioned the result together with instructions (Rinna Ly was the successful bidder). Rinna is charged with training the rest of the Club. And reminded President Sam that he needed to lodge his application for a Presidential Citation and all members about the Conference next year,
Vocational Service Director Shiva Nandan reported that all is in order for our Pride of Workmanship Night on 29th October 2019 – we have 10 people receiving awards and around 40 attending on the night.
Youth Service Director Tissa Perera reported on the student awards to be made the Cecil Hills High School Students and although he was unaware of them on the night, he is now working on our School Service Awards.
 We received a report on the distribution of books to schools in the Oberon area and a meeting with members of the Oberon Rotary Club. Members of our Drought Relief Committee reported that the drought is easing in Oberon and their dams are around 50%. It is the view of the committee that we should concentrate on Narromine and to this end contact has been made with Narromine Rotary Club with a view to:
  • Providing hampers to people in need in the Narromine District in conjunction with the local CWA and St Vincent de Paul;
  • Making donations to the hardship funds maintained by the four schools in Narromine;
  • Having a free BBQ in front of the CWA Building at Narromine, all food and drink to be sourced locally/
Possible dates for a visit to Narromine would be Friday 13th December, Saturday 14th December and returning on Sunday 15th. Narromine is approximately 5,5 hours drive from Sydney.
