Meeting 16 November 2021

We had a very good attendance for our Annual General Meeting and Club Forum with apologies from Charles Hili, Rinna Ly, Lou Madormo and Jim Leahy and welcomed Honorary Member Jock Cimino.
After adoption of the Financial Reports for the year ended 30 June 2021, we held an election of Office Bearers for the 2022/3 year.
From 1 July 2022 the Directors and Officers of the Club will be:
President -    Shiva Nandan
Secretary – Tissa Perera
Treasurer – Gary Halliday
Assistant Treasurer – Sam Capra
Community Service Director – John Pillay
International Service Director – Ted Mlynarz
Vocational Service Director – Roger Mendis
Youth Service Director – Pranesh Ram
Club Service Director – Greg Gibbs
President Elect 2023/4 -Tissa Perera
Rotary Foundation – Shiva Nandan
Immediate Past President – Ted Mlynarz
Sergeant at Arms – Russell Soedjadi

After the meeting we had a presentation from William Trinh on the assistance AHHA has provided over the last two years mainly in Australia due to the COVID situation both here and in South East Asia. AHHA has not been able to make its Annual Field Trip since 2019 but has continued to fund raise. Recognising the need for Personal Protective Equipment and the difficulties that were being faced in sourcing it AHHA has been able to provide this to many groups and organisations

In response to the disastrous flooding in Central Vietnam AHHA was able to provide nearly 2000 water filtration kits to effected families and a cash donation to assist with the purchase of food.

We then moved into a Club Forum during which a number of things were agreed:

  • Bunnings Sausage Sizzles
    • It was agreed to request a booking for the 1st Sunday of each month in 2022, commencing from 6 February
    • I was agreed that all members would be rostered to man the BBQ during the year with 5 people for both the morning and afternoon shifts
    • If a member is unable to work their rostered shift it will be their responsibility to arrange a swap of shifts with another member.
    • Secretary Jim Rudling will prepare and circulate the roster.

  • Social Media
    • The Club is to develop and expand its Facebook presence and set up an Instagram Page
    • John Pillay will arrange for a member from the “Next Gen Club” who are very effective is using social media to attend a Club Meeting in early 2022 as a Guest Speaker

  • Fund Raising
    • A Fund-Raising Sub Committee will be established.
    • Members wishing to be a part of this Committee should contact Ted Mlynarz as soon as possible
    • Suggestions as to fund raising options and methods will be considered by this Committee
    • If you have a suggestion, you must be prepared to see it through by being active in planning and running the event.

We had a good rollup for our first almost past COVID Meeting at Mounties with apologies from Jock Cimino, Alan Hall and Les Still.
Unfortunately, our ancient donated technology let us down on the night and we were unable to connect via Zoom with Morgan Adams. We will try to reschedule for February 2022.
We collected a generous amountfrom Members for Rotary’s Polio Plus Appeal – if you were not there and wish to make a donation you can deposit it to our Bank Account with St George Bank
BSB 112-879 Account 426 052 676

District 9675 Conference – see you there

Yes, now is the time to be thinking about all the joys of being out of lockdown and one of those is meeting up with your friends and colleagues at the District Conference in March 2022.  This will be held at The Warwick Conference Centre in Warwick Farm (near Liverpool), and we have some great speakers lined up for you.  Registrations are now open for ‘Very early-bird’ tickets.  On 31 October prices will go up.  Please note that non-Rotarian partners will always be able to come along at the very early bird price, so why not make a lovely weekend of it?  Rotaractors, don’t delay.  This is the cheapest price you will pay for your ticket!
Visit the District Website and find the District Conference tab.   This will take you to the Registration, and Accommodation, links.  More to come on speakers shortly.   Just a taster though… Craig Reucassel (War on Waste) has just confirmed his availability.  What a great match for our seventh area of focus!  See you there…

  • Full registration Very Early Bird tickets are available between 19 September and 31 October 2021 at $195pp or $390 for a couple. (1 Rotarian plus a non-Rotarian)
  • Full registration Early Bird tickets are available between 1 November 2021 and 16 January 2022 at $235pp or $430 for a couple. (1 Rotarian plus a non-Rotarian)
