Meeting – 9 July 2019
APOLOGIES: Tara Sharma, Geoff Gibbs, John Pillay and Rinna Ly
New president Sam Capra thanked all for attending the changeover and in particular PP Jim Rudling for a successful 2018/19 year.
PP Jim to meet with Mounties Board members to discuss any collaboration between the two groups. Sam unable to attend.
Sam presented Jim Rudling with An award from the Club making him a Gold Companion of Australian Rotary Health. This award is in recognition of the work Jim was done and continues to do with Natalia. Sam also apologised to Jim as this award should been presented at our recent Change-over but he inadvertently left it in his car.
Sam presented new board members and PP Jim with their badges.
President Sam has prepared a questionnaire for members to complete which will be distributed to members over next week.  This result of this will shape the future direction of the club on many fronts, from how meetings are conducted, to projects we wish to continue supporting and those we do not. The questionnaire will also serve to devise ways and means that can be used to garner more membership including that of women.
Secretary Charles interested in building a club culture that will attract membership to it rather than constantly trying to invite prospective members.
Future Board Meeting minutes will be posted to the member’s area of the website for membership perusal no later than two weeks after a board meeting.
Annual membership fees of $200.00 are now due.
The circus telemarketing has just commenced in preparation for next event in 2020.

ZONE 8 ROTARY CONFERENCE In September the Zone 8 Rotary Conference will be held in Christchurch New Zealand from 20 – 22 September 2019. The Zone conference is a highlight of the year in our zone and could be described as a bridge between our local conference and the international convention. Many of us couldn’t take the opportunity to go to Hamburg, but this event is much more accessible both in terms of time and money. Previously known as the Zone Institute, this Zone 8 Conference is open to all Rotarians to attend and participate in. You will be able to meet and make new friends and learn more about the amazing work of Rotary. This will also be an opportunity show your support for the people of Christchurch especially after the earthquake, and the recent tragic events that impacted so many people. It will be a time to see how Christchurch has been reinvigorated and what it is continuing to do after the earthquake. The Organising Committee have done an excellent job in getting together a fantastic programme of presenters who you will find inspiring and challenging. The breakout groups on Saturday afternoon will also be very special. The then President of Rotary International, Mark Maloney and his wife Gay, will be present and Mark will be talking about his vision for the future of Rotary. It promises to be a great weekend. I would urge you to attend, below are the links to register. By attending you are supporting not just Rotary but the people of Christchurch who have had some challenging times over the last few years. Rotary Zone 8 Conference or
