It was a sparsely attended meeting this evening with a number of apologies and unexplained non-attendances. A number of the board members were not in attendance, which saw minimal of reports and a rather quick end to the meeting. If not for the detailed presentation from Odyssey House’s Margaret Noonan, the meeting would have been shorter than the time it took to eat the meal.
PRESIDENT;
Sam has spoken to June Young regarding The Police Officer of The year function. Sam relayed to her that he is still working full time and unable to attend the committee meetings. He however asked for all minutes to be emailed to him to keep so that our club stays in the loop and knows what is going on. He asked if any other member present at the meeting would be able to be on this committee, however no support was forthcoming. The POY is now in its 20th year.
It is not too late to volunteer, if you can see your way clear to help out please contact Sam as soon as possible.
Sam advised that the secretary had now sent out the survey to all members and that responses were coming in. As part of this survey members are being asked to consider the groups we regularly support and give an opinion on whether this support should continue and also if there are any other areas that should be considered. In the 2018/9 year the Club provided funds to The Rotary Foundation, Australian Rotary Health, St. Vincent de Paul Night Patrol, Liverpool Hospital Wig Library, Liverpool District Men’s Shed, Liverpool City Meals on Wheels, Camp Quality, Variety the Childrens Charity, Wings 4 Kidz, Destiny Rescue, Australian Health & Humanitarian Aid, Cambodia Vision, Sri Lankan University Scholarships, Poverty Aid 4 Cambodia. This support was funded by our annual circus appeal and the numerous BBQ’s held during the year.
Jim Rudling has had a meeting with Mounties Executives to determine a possible collaboration; however, the outcome of it will have to wait for Jim’s return from Coffs Harbour. District Conference bookings are now available. Sam will be attending with wife Sylvia.
SECRETARY
Secretary distributed some incoming mail relating to invites from other clubs to attend functions.
TREASURER
Membership fees are now due and payable before 31 August 2019.
Accounts for 2018/9 have been audited and will be published in the Member area of the website in the near future.
There were no other Director Reports.
Ted Mlynarz reported that International Director Rinna had emailed members involved in other International projects to report to him on any progress so he may report. Ted also asked for a full list of projects our club supports (see above) and questioned how Club Service Director a position he did not seek became.
Frans Buskermolen also gave an update on some charity work arranged by his daughter to support the drought-affected area of Trundle. He also questioned whether our club should support the Sisters of Charity’s Remote Rural Ministry, as he perceived that only catholic schools were targeted and he felt that any project funded by the Club should be targeted at the wider Community. It was suggested that any proposal be considered by the Board and assessed on this basis.
