We have had interest from Liverpool Rotary for another night at the Casula Powerhouse so I will organise an inter-club Christmas In July (for some time in August) as out next dining event.
We welcomed PDG Stephen Humphreys who was visiting the Club on behalf of Australian Rotary Health. Stephen was our Guest Speaker on the night and he spoke on the history and the projects of Australian Rotary Health (ARH).ARH was established in 1981 its first major project was to address Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) the research established that if babies slept on their stomachs the risk was increased and as a result of the subsequent campaigns deaths were reduced from in excess of 500 per annum to a fraction of that number.
In 2021 ARH expects to fund over $2 million in medical research – over the years our Club has contributed in excess of $250,000 to this worthwhile endeavour funding two specific research projects into Parkinson’s Disease and into Prostate Cancer Research and has partnered with ARH to provide three PHD Scholarships the most recent of these finished in November this year.
When the opportunity arises, we plan to continue our support of this worthwhile fund.
