Meeting – 19 February 2019

Things were a bit quiet at Tuesday’s meeting with President Jim and Treasurer Gary both away due to having surgery on each of their ailments.
In his role as President Elect, Sam Capra has arranged a meeting with Liverpool City Council Mayor, Wendy Waller, to discuss with her his Presidential Project of addressing aspects of homelessness in the Local Government Area. He has arranged for an Officer of the local Salvation Army to be a future Guest Speaker on the topic.
Sam has also registered to attend the District Conference.

Past President and District Governor Elect John Pillay has been informed that materials for the Fiji Sanitation and Water Project have been purchased.

Ted Mlynarz reminded members of the Australian Health and Humanitarian Aid BBQ in Freedom Plaza on 24 February and the fundraiser at the Crystal Palace on 3 May.

Frans Buskermolen and Joe Cauchi have met with Corrimal Club members about the trip to Lake Cargelligo and decided on a BBQ on Saturday 13 April. Easter Eggs are being arranged for distribution at schools. Some work is still to be done on the fuel/food vouchers. Local contacts will provide a list of business where they can be redeemed.

The Guest Speaker was Adele Taskin, a Project Officer from the Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) who spoke about her organisation and the work that it is involved in.
Adele advised that CID offers a complete range of services to equip businesses to become industry leaders in accessible and inclusive practice. CID brings together the expertise of people with intellectual disability with their skilled trainers, designers and consultants with a particular emphasis on employment and the workplace environment.
It is the goal of CID is to place disabled people in employment with a view to moving them from supported employment to a regular work environment.
Adele congratulated member Charlie Hili for already employing two disabled people in his business. Charlie reported favourably on his experience.

Ted Mlynarz distributed flyers for the Club’s Golf Day

On Sunday 17 February Members of the Club catered for the Annual National Servicemen’s Memorial Service at the Bardia Barracks Historical Precinct at Ingleburn. The team provided sausages, pies, drinks and deserts to the official guests, bands, honour guard and others in attendance.
