Meeting Report – 8 September 2020

We had apologies from Les Still, and Rinna Ly.

Guest Speaker: We had a ZOOM presentation from Andrea Grosvenor, (Queanbeyan Rotary), Area Governor Rotary District 9705 and Rotarians Against Malaria Eastern Region Supervisor.
Andrea spoke to us on the work that RAM is doing and ways in which our Club could offer support.

We experienced a few technical challenges with the internet connection but Andrea will send a copy of her presentation to be shared with Club Members.

It is 10 years since our Club last supported RAM when we “adopted a village” in PNG providing mosquito nets. International Director Ted Mlynarz will be looking a this as a possible project for this year.

A general discussion was held on the trip to Narromine/Trangie from 1st October when we plan to distribute donated clothing and some of the sanitiser we purchased as well as donations the 6 Schools in the District.

A Members are aware our efforts are being impacted by COVID 19 restrictions at this time and while in Narromine our team will meet with representatives of Narromine Rotary, St Vincent de Paul, CWA and School Principals on finding a way forward

ANNUAL PRIDE OF WORKMANSHIP AWARDS

The Rotary Club of Liverpool West will hold Pride of Workmanship Awards on Tuesday 27th October 2020.

Each year the club calls for nominations from the community of people who give that little extra in the performance of their jobs, it may be that little bit of extra help to customers, it might be for pride in their jobs. Nominees are invited to attend a presentation night with their partners and receive the award.

The Pride of Workmanship Awards are designed: -
  • To provide Rotarians and employers with an opportunity to recognise employees who display qualities worthy of this award.
  • To encourage favourable workplace relationships.
  • To instil a sense of pride in individual achievement.

The Club encourages members, local businesses and community members to consider nominating a local person who is a committed and enthusiastic employee or a local individual, who they feel, displays    "Pride in their Workmanship”.

The Pride of Workmanship Awards are NOT a competition and there are no winners or losers.  It is recognition by a Rotarian or employer of an individual’s achievement, commitment and ability to inspire his/her fellow employees or customers.

Vocational Service Director Russell Soedjadi distributed nomination forms to members and has more available. Nominations close on 6th October 2020

on 22 September 2020, Our Members-only raffle jackpot will be $130!
The wine we offer for prizes has been ageing gracefully and our supply of exciting chocolates and mystery prizes are just waiting to be won.
