Our meeting was well attended with some of our wanders returning (Geoff Gibbs, Ted Mlynarz and Bob Groat ) we had apologies from Rinna Ly, Russell Soedjadi, Joe Cauchi, Jim Rudling, Sam Capra and Alvan Freeman.
We welcomed back potential member Tissa Perera and look forward to his future visits and involvement with our Club.
We discussed the Club’s ongoing Drought Support Program. PP Frans Buskermolen has been in contact with the Secretary of Lake Cargelligo Rotary Club with the view to our Club providing support to this badly affected area. Planning is in the early stages but it has been suggested that as a Club we visit the town before Easter 2019 ( Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2019 )providing some short of Picnic/BBQ providing Easter Eggs and Cheer to the locals Community.
Miracle Babies Fund Raising – Katie Russell and Sonia Freston will be attending our meeting on 16th October 2018 as will Sam Romeo who assisted the Committee in organising the event.
The Club has a number of cases of white wine for sale to members – these will be available shortly and a number of cases have already been spoken for.
Vocational Service Director Shiva Nandan reported that he has received or has had notice of at least six nominations for the Pride of Workmanship Night to be held on 23rd October 2018 and reminded members that nominations Close on 12th October 2108. Shiva also circulated a Commitment Sheet to get numbers attending. The meal cost will be $25 per head for a 2 course dinner and partners and guests are welcome.
Community Service Director Shiva advised that the Club had received a request from Angelica Tremblay for support in providing Christmas Puddings for distribution to the less fortunate in our Community. Angelica will be attending our meeting on 16th October 2108.
The Club’ Christmas dinner meeting will be at the Black Rose Restaurant in Liverpool again this year and Sam Capra is to confirm costings with them. The date is to be the 18th December 2018.
Vocational Night will be held at “The Restaurant” at Wetherill Park TAFE. Wetherill Park - a 3 Course Dinner for $30 per head will be provided and they are fully licenced, This will be supporting a local TAFE’s as all menu planning, cooking and service is provided by the College’s Hospitality and Commercial Cookery Students.
Annual Circus – Subject to approval by Liverpool Council our annual Circus will be held in the Grounds of Bonnyrigg Sports Club, Elizabeth Drive, Bonnyrigg, NSW over three days - Friday 3 May, Saturday 4 May and Sunday 5 May 2019. The Circus will staged by Brophy International Productions they will also be doing the Fairy Floss, Popcorn and Drinks. As a Club will need to get the guests to the Tent where Brophy’s will take over and this year for the first time we will also be providing a sausage sizzle from our BBQ Trailer and selling drinks. There will be 3 sessions each day and we will need around 6 volunteers for each session.
Liverpool Greenway will be holding a fund raising dinner – “Denim and Diamonds” on Saturday 27th October 2018 at the Holiday Inn, Warwick Farm starting at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $125 per person. This is always a good night and our Club should support it.
Fiji Water Project – IPP John Pillay flew to Fiji on Wednesday to meet with the Rotary Club of Suva North to discuss this project with them. Plans are in place for John and Sam Capra to travel to Fiji at the end of the month to complete this project by connecting water to the village near Sigatoka.
Auction: Frans Buskermolen provided same “Bearded Lilies” for the Club to Auction. The successful bidders were John Pillay and Geoff Gibbs.

RYLA – 6th – 12th JANUARY 2019
Applications are now open for RYLA 2019 (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). 6th – 12th January 2019 at YMCA Camp Yarramundi. Camp starts Sunday 6th January 2019 afternoon (4pm) and Graduation is after morning tea (guests are invited) on Saturday 12th January 2019 (mid-day). 60 spaces are available.
