Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
The motto of RYPEN is the cultivation of youth. The quality of our future depends on the quality of our youth.
Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)
The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is a challenging one week program which provides an unique opportunity for leadership skills and personal development.
Recognition of Youth Award (ROYA)
Recognition of Youth Award (ROYA) is unique to Rotary District 9690. It was set up to mark the 75th anniversary year of Rotary International and has been concluded successfully since.
Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA)
MUNA simulates the workings of the United Nations Assembly by having teams of two or three senior students represent a particular U.N. country in debates on matters of world political and social concern.
Miller College Awards
We had been involved with the college since its foundation in presenting and award which consisted of a plaque and a cash prize to the best student from each faculty of the college.
Unfortunately the college no longer wishes to participate in this award.
School Service Awards
The club provides these awards to in excess of 40 Primary and Secondary Schools in the local area.
Pride of Workmanship Awards
Each year the club calls for nominations from the community of people who give that little extra in the performance of their jobs, it may be that little bit of extra help to customers, it might be for pride in their jobs.
Police Officer of the Year Award
Each year in conjunction with the other Liverpool Rotary Clubs the club hosts a Gala Dinner to present the Annual Police Officer of the Year Award.
Annual Children’s Variety Circus
Each year the club stages a free variety circus which is held in the grounds on the Liverpool Catholic Club over 3 days. The Circus is funded by a telemarketing campaign which usually run from from August to May depending on the dates for the event,
Annual Charity Golf Day
Each year, in October the club holds the Alec Muggleton Memorial 4 Ball Ambrose Tournament at Cabramatta Golf Course.
From 2016 it will be conducted jointly with Karitane, the main beneficiary of the day.
The club is currently financially supporting the following projects:
Research Fellowships in conjunction with the Australian Rotary Health.
The current Australian Rotary Health Project is for a Joseph Po at University of Western Sydney, and was organised to support Dr Felix Chan and the Eggtober Foundation. The research is into treatments and possibilities for ovarian cancer.
The Club has also funded a scholarship for Rayan Mousa to complete research with Dr Des Richardson at Sydney University into new cancer treatments.
In past years funding has been provided for:-
Treatments for Parkinson’s Disease
Funding was provided for a 3 year research project by a team led by Professor Jasmine Henderson at Sydney University investigating new medical treatments for Parkinson’s Disease. The club is providing $90,000 which has been matched by the Australian Rotary Health. The club provided $90,000 which was matched by the Australian Rotary Health.
Treatments for Prostate Cancer
Funding was provided for a 2 year research project by a team led by Professor Des. Richardson at Sydney University into a new treatment for Prostate and other cancers. The club provided $60,000 which was matched by the Australian Rotary Health.
Our Club provides on going support to the following international projects:
The club provides annual funding to a team of local surgeons which travels to Cambodia each year performing operations restoring sight, free of charge for the poor of Cambodia. Members of the Club also travel with the team at their own expense to provide logistical support to the group.
Cambodia Vision is registered with Rotary Australia World Community Service - Project Number 49/2009-10
Australian Health and Humanitarian Aid (also operating as Vietnam Vision Projects - Australia)
The club provides annual funding to a team led by local surgeons, dentists and other health professionals which travels to Vietnam and surrounding countries each year performing operations restoring sight, dental treatments and other medical services free of charge for the poor. Members of the Club also travel with the team at their own expense to provide logistical support to the group.
AHHA also distributes humanitarian aid in these areas.
The project is registered with Rotary Australia World Community Service - Project Number 14/2008-9.
Australian Aid 4 Cambodia
The club provides annual funding to Australian Aid 4 Cambodia (formerly Poverty Aid 4 Cambodia) to assist Cambodians living in extreme poverty by providing water wells, housing, mosquito nets and basic requirements, caring for the elderly in long term sustainable programs. The Club also made a significant contribution to the cost of purchasing a property which has now been converted to a School. Members of the Club also travel with the team at their own expense to provide logistical support to the group.
Australian Poverty Aid 4 Cambodia operates from Pngeachy Village, Svaydongkum Commune, Siem Reap City and is registered with Rotary Australia World Community Service - Project Number 58/2012-3
Our Club is proud to provide ongoing financial support for the Green Valley Police Camp further details are below.
Liverpool PCYC Boorie Program
This award winning program was run by the LIverpool PCYC and was funded by the club. It took Aboriginal youths and as well as teaching them how to box and surf has a recognised local Aboriginal Artist teach them how to traditionally decorate a didgeridoo which they kept. The didgeridoo presented to the Club is displayed in the Restaurant at Liverpool Catholic Club.
Green Valley Police Camp
This annual youth camp organised by the Green Valley Local Area Police Command take local teenagers who have come to the notice of the command on a weekend camp. The police officers volunteer their time to work with these kids and have had great success in building ongoing relationships. This camp has proved its worth year after year with a virtual zero re-offend instance.
A major focus of our Clubs activities is to support our local Community we support the following on an ongoing basis and many others on a needs basis.
Liverpool City Meals on Wheels
We make an Annual Donation to help with the Meals on Wheels operations.
The Liverpool District Mens Shed
The Club is proud to provide financial support to this fledgling group which is filling a great need in our Community.
Liverpool Hospital Wig Library
Our Club has been and continues to be a supporter of this valuable service that provides free wigs to people undergoing cancer treatment at the Hospital.
The club has three major fund raising projects during each year:
Children’s Circus Extravaganza Appeal
This is a telemarketing appeal which usually runs between August and May each year (depending on the date of the Circus) and contacts businesses seeking sponsorship for the Circus and other projects. The Circus is held in the grounds of Liverpool Catholic Club, Joadja Road, Prestons, NSW 2170. Each year approximately 10,000 attend this event over the 4 days it is held.

Alec Muggleton Memorial Golf Day
This event is held in October each year in conjunction with Karitane and is supported by sponsorships from local business and individual teams. What a great way to support us - enter a team. As well as raising funds for Rotary Projects the morning provides a great opportunity for fellowship between members.
Other fund raising events are held for specific purposes at various times during the year.
