DISTRICT 9675

NEWSLETTER – 27 SEPTEMBER 2016

Dear Rotarians & Friends

Tuesday 20th September 2016 was a great night with our District Governor and his wife (Stephen & Julie), Assistant Governors (Margaret & Warwick) and a it was also a Combined Meeting with the Rotary Club of Liverpool Greenway.

I also welcomed guests Greg Gibbs and Daniel Tragai – Apologies from Jock Cimino and Lawrence Hay.

Nick Romeo, President of Liverpool Greenway, advised that his Club now met at “the Warwick”, Holiday Inn, Warwick Farm and invited us to attend one of their meetings He also invited us to join “a night with the horses in 2016” organised by Liverpool Greenway on Friday, 28th October 2016, 7:00 pm at the Novella Events Function Centre, 682 Cabramatta Road, Bonnyrigg. Greenway had a quick members meeting at the conclusion of ours.

Our Assistant Governor, Warwick, encouraged us to use internet for filling out the presidential citation and the goal settings. He also advised that if we need assistance of any kinds the club will contact him directly and the deadline is up to 30 June 2017.

Julie Humphreys informed us that she and her husband are busy at the beginning of the year for their club visits consisting of 65 clubs and 25 club changeovers. Julie encouraged us to assist any charity organisations and together we can make a huge difference.

Stephen Humphreys, our District Governor, encouraged us to invite special guest speakers to our club for their speeches as a result we can learn from their different experiences of interesting projects. He also advised that many events and District Conference are coming up so it is worthwhile for the clubs to attend, for example, World Polio Day on 24th October 2016; Graffiti Removal Day; NSW Police Officer of the year Awards on Friday 4th November 2016; District Conference at Wollongong on 10-12 March 2017; etc.

Stephen also advised that the communication is very important for each club to improve their knowledge through an internet in relation to some stories of each club involved projects. The rotary strategic plans (Services, memberships and public images) are very significant for each club so each president should have been aware of. The best way of informing the outsiders about our club is that we need to advertise any articles to attract them. Thanks to DG Stephen for his interesting talk.

Our Pride of Workmanship Award will be held on 25th October 2016. Dr Bob Groat has nomination forms. Applications will close on Monday, 10th October 2016. He also mentioned that nominated people and their nominators must attend the event to receive their awards. Dr Bob Groat will contact Miller TAFE staff for the eligible students to receive the Awards. The applications will be closed in March 2017 for May TAFE Awards.

  • Ted Mlynarz, Bob Groat and Jim Leahy will be going to Nepal for helping some projects.
