Treasurer Gary says that he will have concluded the collection of membership fees by the end of the month.
The Guest Speaker was Assistant District Governor Allan Petersen from the Concord Club.
Allan said that he was preparing the way for a visit from the District Governor Stephen Brittan on 19 September. He advised that Stephen would like to be assured that our Club had a written Strategic Plan. Stephen also wants the Club to give consideration to what it has achieved and in particular the issues that would be the basis for the awarding of a Presidential Citation.
Allan also reminded members of the priorities of Rotary International President Ian Riseley (a member of the Rotary Club of Sandringham, Victoria, Australia). Ian is challenging all 1.2 million Rotarians to simply plant a tree before Earth Day on 22 April 2018. He is also urging clubs to attract female members and members under the age of 45 years.

INSPIRATIONAL YOUTH AWARDS
Helping Youth to Achieve
Many young people have the talent to make the world a better place, but not all have the opportunity.
In 2017-18 we ask the clubs to nominate an individual from their area, or young people they become aware of who exhibit the spark to make a difference but are held back by their circumstances. Some youth do not have the opportunity to shine because they do not have the privileges that others have so we ask Clubs to identify those individuals and forward them to myself as the District Governors Partner.
The criteria for the awards are:
- Age categories; 14 – 16 years & 17 – 19 years
- Applicants from; Community Groups, Youth Groups & all Educational Organisations
- Their Socio- economic situation
- Contribution to communities
- Their ability to “make the world a better place”
- Commitment and enthusiasm to a cause
Nominee applications will open 1st September 2017 and close 16th March 2018
(Download available on District Website: www.rotarydistrict9675.org)
Let’s make a difference in 2017-18 and provide young people with an opportunity to make the world a better place.
