MEETING 9 APRIL 2024
For those of you who forgot 9th April was also World Unicorn Day
Apologies - With all the traveling our members are undertaking we had more apologies than attendees we should return to normal as they return to home shores over the coming weeks.
President Tissa Perera opened the meeting with a general discussion about the upcoming New Member Night to be held on 30 April 2024
He advised that the Club had been contacted by Sue-Lei Hunt-Mingay to sponsor a prize at the Lifeline Macarthur & Western Sydney 007 Gala Dinner to be held on Saturday, 22 June 2024 - the Board will consider this request.

We have been approached to support the MHERV project is an initiative of Rotary Clubs of NSW and is now managed by The Rotary Club of Warners Bay.
The VAN, which is staffed by a Registered Nurse, offers FREE OF CHARGE HEALTH SCREENING SERVICES for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, and Diabetes, and provides immediate results. The aim is to reach as many people as possible as the van tours in Regional and Rural areas of NSW, helping to improve health outcomes for both men and women. We do two ‘tours’ each year, a schedule is planned and we contact the towns well ahead of time, where we intend to take the van, with the dates we have allocated and ask the Clubs to host the visit to their town.
Our Nurses have always been known for having the knack of being able to relax even the most stressed clients. This service is offered in a relaxed, confidential and informal setting under Covid safe Guidelines.
In May 2023, the MHERV Team was successful in acquiring a grant from NSW Health to purchase a new van, which is a Jayco Conquest Motorhome: This is set up, with the sponsors’ logos attached, and was officially launched in July. I have attached a photo of the van.
The Nurse submits a daily report to the Program Management from which statistics are gathered. Our most recent statistics show that over the last 6 years the results have averaged approximately 3% who have required urgent attention, around 33% are advised to follow up on something with their GP and 64% are encouraged to keep up the good work.
The proposal was to hold a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on 11 August 2024 with the proceeds going to MHERV, the date was to be Australia wide. The members agreed to support this initiative but by using our scheduled Bunnings event on 4 August 2024.
The Anaesthetic Probe purchased for Liverpool Hospital by the Rotary Clubs in District 9675 will be presented on Monday 15 April - Jim Rudling will represnt our Club.
New Member Night - Tuesday, 30th April 2024 at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant, Mounties Community Club - 6:30 for 7 pm.
We will have a Chinese Banquet with beer, house wines and soft drink. The cost for members and partners will be $45 per person. Potential Members will be GUESTS of the Club.
IF WE WANT TO GROW THE CLUB, IT IS UP TO EVERY MEMBER TO PROMOTE THE CLUB AND INVITE POTENTIAL MEMBERS TO ATTEND THIS NIGHT AS GUESTS OF OUR CLUB.
Invite members of your local community, friends and business contacts to this membership night!
Community Service Director John Pillay advised that our next Feed the Homeless Night in Martin Place, will be held on Monday 6 May 2024 at 6 for 6:30pm.
At the event held on Monday 8 April over 120 hot meals, fresh fruit and clothing was provided to the City's homeless.
